Sparkling Diwali Ride

100_2853

Happy Diwali to all HBC folks!! Matt, Diwakar, Kartik, Animesh, Krish, Irfan and Sunil, early morning birds met at the Gachibowli stadium to start their Diwali with a ride loaded with fun, energy and chocolates. If 05:30 is too early think again, these folks are planning to start their ride even earlier :-)

The plan was laid out in the briefing before the ride by Sunil. We go through the Nehru Outer Ring Road—>take a right from Andhra Police Academy—>ride through the Himayat Sagar road—>take a right towards Chilkur Balaji--->hit the chevella road—> and try to lose your way…yes the plan was to explore a new way back after that.

Irfan accompanied us till the Police Academy and after viewing the Diwali sunrise we hit the chevella road. We then had our mandatory chai stop after around 30k. We distributed chocolates to kids and wished everyone around a very Happy Diwali and then got our bums back on the saddle for another Adrenaline filled ride. We then decided not to take the usual route and ride through the villages and took a diversion towards Chilkur.

The ride back was getting hotter!! We we started the temperature was around 22 degrees and now it had risen to 31 degrees. Krish was the first to admit that he was eager to reach home and kept asking how Kms were left, when he realized there was another 35k left, he was not amused, but the cycling devil in him pulled him through that gave him a big sense of achievement.

The coconut pani break was a blessing for us riders, it always the last few Kms that are really challenging and I just followed Matt and took a diversion back home. A nice 94k ride at 23 km/hr, What a way to start your Diwali day!! We then loaded ourselves with Diwali sweets and spent some quality time with our friends and relatives.

Looking forward to another ride with our folks, hey see you at the ride!!

  1. Looks like I missed it. I could have joined, but still not recovered from my sickness. I do realize though I would have returned back half way through. Ninety four kilometers were way off for me. I did bring along my son and his friend so they could ride with you for some distance. Did not realize that the start time was changed to 5:30 AM from 6:30 AM. Inquired around there and left.

Good that you all had some helluva time. I will try to scale up to you all some day!

  2. Congratulations guys. Yes its the best way to start a Diwali day.

    I missed the ride. :(

Had a very hard week and felt too lazy for a 90 km ride. Hope I'll be able to join for the next ride (remember not to mention the no: of kms in the post)
