The sweltering summer is in it’s final stages with the sporadic bursts of rain rendering the sun god incapacitated. And this can mean only one thing for the adrenaline filled nomads that are the HBC riders…longer rides, exploring further than ever before and even more fun.It was all that and more this Saturday.
We left Gachibowli stadium at
around 6:30 after Shay showed us a couple of warm up exercises to stretch our muscles. After following the main road till Lingampally we took a diversion to a narrow street with rows of houses on either sides. We were enjoying the slow lazy ride when the street came to an abrupt end and this beautiful panorama of the countryside lay before us.This was the first of the many pit-stops
that we would be making that day.It gave us a chance to soak in the nature’s bounty that was all around. As we moved further and further away from civilization, the trail grew more and more wild. One particular segment especially was a huge hit with the group. It involved a pretty steep slope in the middle of nowhere. We also had the first fall of the trip here. You can be a part of the excitement in these videos.
After everyone had satisfied himself going up and down this slope like a zillion times,we continued on to the next leg of our exploration, which took us to a nice little cove beside a lake which looked as though no human had ever set foot before.Had to spend quite a lot of time here as yours truly and Prasad got flats. For a place which had hitherto been un trodden by
human feet,we sure left a lot of cycle tread marks which am sure will remain there for a long long time.. made me feel like Neil Armstrong on the moon ;)
We bid adieu to this paradise after the flats were mended and proceeded towards a place called Ameenpur, navigating through some treacherous rocky terrain like the ones in the pic below.Well, mostly navigating..some segments required the riders to become the beasts of burden, carrying the burden of their rides.. :)..
Shay then led us towards Chanda Nagar where we rode along the railway track. It was great fun trying to race with the MMTS and watch the bemused faces of the passengers as they saw these nutcases racing along in a single file in the hot sun. Finally we parted ways near madinaguda. You can see the whole ride in pics here
Well, that’s that folks..The rides just keep getting better and better. The off road trail was by far the best that I’ve been in my short time with the group so far.As Shay had promised before the ride,we did lose our way many times, but it did open up even more avenues to explore..and the spirit in the group was amazing..as a very famous person has rightly said…”IT’S NOT ABOUT THE BIKE”…!!!
Cheers
P.S Sorry for the delay in the blog..some technical problems..
